Susan B. Anthony
Oil Painting by Alice Cuddeback
Alice Cuddeback was taking lessons from Stanley
Gordon and Sally Anderson, when she heard that Mayor Stephen May wanted
a picture of Susan B. Anthony for the city. Alice researched pictures
of Susan B. Anthony at the library and proceeded to paint the portrait.
When completed, she gave it to to the Mayor to be used by the city of
Rochester. It was placed just outside the mayor's office at the old
City Hall. Later the picture was moved to the dining room of the
Susan B. Anthony home.
In June of 1987, the portrait became on permanent
loan to the Health Association on courtesy of the Susan B. Anthony Memorial,
Inc. and currently resides in the Susan B. Anthony Conference Room located
at 1 Mount Hope Avenue.
